We seek to equip our pupils with the four language skills - listening, speaking, reading and writing - to develop their confidence and competence in using the English Language in the 21st century. |
Specific Programmes
As part of our Whole School Approach to Effective Communication, the English Language Department is pleased to offer various programmes to develop our pupils’ competencies in the four language skills mentioned above. The details of some of these programmes are as follows:

A bridging programme that is conducted by P1 teachers focusing on building pupils phonemic awareness.

Language Arts (Booster Lessons) |
Tiered lessons across the levels that focus on equipping pupils with communication and collaboration skills in line with the 21st century competencies. |

Intensive Reading |
A reading programme that focusses on more intensive exploration of the texts while building the pupils' vocabulary. |

Hooked On Reading |
A school-wide reading programme that aims to develop a strong reading culture through allocated reading and library periods, P3 twisted tales programme, library programmes, developing language ambassadors, teachers' professional development, parents' engagment sessions and partnership with National Library Board .
A collaboration with the National Library Board (NLB)
NLB librarians conduct various activities such as the following: - Mass Borrowing - Story Telling - Meet the librarian - Read, Swap, Share
